iPad 2 was announced by Steve Jobs in a new Apple event

Apple iPad 2Guess what guys? Apple just announce another incredible device yesterday during a conference held by Steve Jobs at San Francisco: iPad 2. Looking just the same, but thinner, iPad 2 comes with two major improvements: Apple A5 dual-core processor and two cameras(one VGA camera on the front and another one at the back).

As usual before announcing the main release of the day, Steve Jobs took the stage and featured some of the Apple last achievements: 100 million books downloaded from the iBooks store, 200 million accounts(with credit cards and 1-click purchasing), 2 billion $ paid to developers, 100 million iPhones sold, 15 million iPads sold in 2010 and 65.000 apps for iPad(Steve Jobs also laughed about Android claiming that they only provide only 100 apps for their tablets, but he forgot to say that Android Market provides more than 100.000 apps for their users and some of them are free. Even the movie where they showed autistic children’s that were helped by the iPad showed how marketing works at Apple. To laugh about tablets that support dual-core processor, sim cards and most important, Adobe Flash, is a very ridiculous thing, but for Apple is not. Don’t get us wrong, we are not against Apple, but every user should know every good or bad side of a product.

Now let’s get back to the iPad 2: it looks great, as usual for an Apple product, it’s thinner(8.8 mm) even then the iPhone 4 and now has support for FaceTime(Apple video-conference app). In terms of speed, the new iPad 2 is very fast as it supports a new dual-core chip called A5 which is capable of 2x the speed of the iPad and 9x improvements over graphics. The 9.7-inches touchscreen is the same as its predecessor which is based on IPS technology and supports multitouch and 1024-by-768-pixel resolution.

Same time with the release of the iPad 2 which will be on March 11, Apple announced two more additions to the iPad, some cool magnetic-actioned covers called Smart Covers(Polyurethane-$39 or Leather-$69 material) and an HDMI output port(capable of 1080p) which will cost $39.

As technical features improvements, the new iPad comes with two cameras(one VGA-at the front and one HD camera at the back), gyroscope(same as the iPhone 4) and the same 10 hour battery life. The similar features are Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n), 3G, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR technology, GPS.

A new cool thing is that the new iPad come now with more built-in apps: FaceTime, Photo Booth, Mail, Safari, iBooks, Videos, Photos, Find my iPad, iPod, iTunes, App Store, Maps, Youtube, Game Center, Notes, Calendar and Contact.

Talking about software, iPad 2 will come with iOS 4.3 version which brings improvements over Safari and as well over FaceTime, Photo Booth, iMovie and GarageBand(which will cost $4.99 each). Another improvement of iOS 4.3 is the personal hotspot capability, but this will be only available for iPhone 4.

Cool or not with Flash or not, Apple managed to create a great product and they didn’t disappoint their consumers with this iPad 2. Only the end of this year will tell us if this new iPad 2 will be the product of the year.

Till then, go grab it as the cheapest model will cost just $499(16GB model with no 3G) and will be available as we said before starting March 11th in US and from March 25th in several countries including Australia, Canada, France, UK, Germany, Japan, Spain.
