Finally with the official announcement of Optimus 2x, LG brings the dual core mobile out of the rumor mills. LG Optimus 2X is the world’s first smartphone which features a dual core processor. Along with the extreme smooth performance it packs some high definition multimedia features. The NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor enables you to browse through files and multitask freely without any lags.
It also features a 4-inch WVGA screen and HDMI output. They have already showed in a demo what it can do by gaming in an HDTV with this phone connected via HDMI. That was a real eye-catching show. Optimus 2X features 1080p HD video playback unlike any of today’s smartphones which max out at 720p. So those who think mobile devices do not need dual core this is a solid logic they cannot ignore. Dual core is a bless for smartphones and even the test product they sent for review and proved perfectly.
At the beginning Optimus 2X will be shipped with Android 2.2 but there will be an upgrade to the 2.3 version soon after the release. The HDMI mirroring feature is another proof what a dual core processor can do in a mobile device. This device can also connect to other DLNA device and share its contents. These features seem to promise the console gaming experience using your phone and HDTV together. The surprises are not finished yet! Unlike the most other smartphones it will have an 8 megapixel rear camera which is capable of 1080p video recording and a 1.3 megapixel front camera of course for video calls. The internal memory of this phone will be 8GB and you can expand it up to 32GB via microSD memory cards.
In case of sensors it has Accelerometer and gyro sensor. Other connecting features include micro-USB port and 3.5 mm headphone port. The battery is a 1500mAh one not very usual because it is the same battery used in many of the single cored smartphones. LG claims that the battery consumption is really working quite well with the highly powered dual core processor and it sustains a full day of heavy use.
LG Optimus 2X will be available first in Korea in the next month and then it will be available in other countries gradually. The Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade will be announced ‘in due course’ as said by the representatives.
