In a world that can’t handle without GPS, Nokia come and release 6710 Navigator. This is a smartphone built for Gps and supports: in car SatNav, digital compass, Ovi Maps 3.0.
The display is a TFT based one with 16 M colors and supports a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. It features accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate and touch-sensitive zoom bar below.
On the top of the display we find the earpiece, the ambient light sensor and the videocall camera. Right under the display come the keys(Menu, Clear, Call, End-Call), the D-pad and under it is a dedicated key to open the Maps app or to center your location on the map.
At the top side of the phone are situated the charger plug and the 3.5 mm audio jack, while on the bottom part it’s the battery slit and the mic. The right side of the phone has the volume rocker buttons and the camera shutter key while on the left we will discover the microUSB port and the memory card one, both covered by a moving plastic lid.
On the back of the phone is the 5 megapixel camera which support 2592 x 1944 pixels. It comes with Carl Zeiss lens, dual -led flash and autofocus and supports various functions: night mode, flash control, self-timer, multi-shot, time-lapse at intervals from 10 seconds to 30 minutes. Videos are shoot at 15fps in MPEG-4 format.
6710 is running on the Symbian 9.3 OS 3rd edition User Interface and comes with 600 MHz ARM 11 CPU and featured known apps such as: Ovi Contacts, Music/Video Player, Nseries image gallery, Organizer, Word, Excel, Pdf, PowerPoint, Zip manager, Dictionary and many others.
Connectivity is very rich on this mobile, offering you: GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, microUSB. To extend the 50Mb internal memory you will have to use an microSD card(up to 16GB). The browser is fast and comes with Flash support and is very easy to use, having the virtual mouse cursor and shortcuts on the toolbar.
Gps comes with A-Gps support and Ovi Maps. You already know you have the touch sensitive zoom bar and the dedicated button for Navigation, but you didn’t know that 6710 comes with lifetime drive license(traffic info’s, city information, weather etc).
The battery(BL-5F 950 mAh) offers 380 hours in stand by mode, 7 hours in talk time mode and up to 26 hours in music play mode.
Nokia 6710 Navigator is available since August 2009 in our stores with an estimated price near 400 $.
