HTC steps in and comes with a new challenge: HERO. It seems to be the most advanced Android based mobile phone out on the market this year. Now let’s discover what are the main features of this “hero”.
The main thing on this new phone is the multi-tasking: we are all used to run multiple applications on our computers(listen music, play games, stay online etc.)and we are so happy that the processor and operating system allow this.
These days mobile phones tend to get all features that a computer have so multi-tasking was a “must-have” option. This is now available on HTC HERO so either you want to surf the net with Opera or to check latest comments on facebook, you can do this simultaneous without any little problem.
Display
Phone comes with a TFT capacitive touchscreen with HVGA resolution and 65.000 colors. It supports a resolution of 320 x 480 pixels and the based characteristics of a touch model: multi-touch input method, accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate.
Design
Under the display we will discover the trackball, similar from the Blackberry models and the following buttons: Call , Home, Menu, End Call, Search. On the left side, covered in plastic, we find the volume keys while on the right(after we disclose the battery cover) is the microSD card slot(supports up to 16GB). Right on top of the phone is the 3.5 mm audio jack device while on the button we discover the miniUSB port used for charging or connecting the phone to computer.
Camera
Situated on the back of the phone, the 5 megapixel camera comes with autofocus and supports photo resolutions up to 2592 x 1944 pixels. It does not support LED flash so don’t expect to perform in low light condition. Videos are taken @15 fps and in CIF format.
Connectivity
The Hero comes with multiple connectivity features: GPRS, 3G with HSDPA at 7.2 Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0. The browser, an Android based take us very close to a pc browser. It supports flash, animated banners and you can surf very fast without any issues. The navigation through pages is very simple and is made same as iPhone’s Safari browser had: tap and you will see. Gps comes with A-Gps support and with Google Maps application offering 3D maps or voice guided navigation.
The main brain of this phone is an Qualcomm MSM 7200A 528 MHz processor and the operating system is the Android version 1.5 (Cupcake). Being a smartphone, Hero supports screen widgets and a lot of applications meant to make our life easier: Social apps, Music/Video Player, Organizer.
The battery is an 1350 mAh Li-Ion one that claims to last 750 hours in standby mode or up to 7 hours in talk time mode.
HTC Hero is available worldwide since July 2009 at an estimated price near 435 euros.
I agree, mobile phones today have lots of useful features as the computer. Multi-tasking feature is very much needed now-a-days. HTC Hero comes packed with good features and attractive design. The image quality is good. Connecting to facebook, twitter is fun and easy.
For me this HTC looks a bit too square. 1350 MaH is not a lot for a real smartphone like this. And is multi-tasking really that new I mean a lot of phones were already able to play your music and have you browse the internet at the same time. But you could be right about vieuwing different internet pages at the same time, I don’t think the current phones are able of doing that. This post does come a little late as the Hero has been released in June already.
I know the phone was released this summer, but is never too late to make a review and talk about it. We just make it to help users make and oppinion about it. We review both new or released gadgets.
