The end has come for Google TV

Google TV BoxAfter the project was an abject failure, Google is reportedly ending Google TV. However, the service itself is going nowhere, just the name and the focus. It appears Android TV will take over once Android 4.4 KitKat will be officially released.

Sources from manufacturing plants that create Google TV devices have confirmed that they will no longer be doing so. But that doesn’t mean that the company is giving up on their television dreams. They are just changing them around for something more sustainable.

Over the last several months, brands like Sony and STMicroelectronics have continued to churn out products that include Google in the equation. However, they have failed to mention Google TV in any of their press releases or technical specs. Instead, they specify that their devices are compatible with Android and Google services.

Google TV with Siri UI and special Remote Controls

Google TV RemoteGoogle and Apple have been at a head to head battle for some time with competing products and even legal battles, however now Google is battling another opponent: Samsung.

About six days before Siri and iCloud were launched by Apple, Google was hurrying to apply at the US Patent and Trademark Office for a patent on their new Google TV remote/app. This app would use voice commands for all of the necessary Google TV functions (much like Siri and the iPhone 4GS), pattentlyapple reports.

Google TV was the biggest news from I/O 2010

Google TVAs we promised yesterday, another big news from Google I/O 2010 was the announcement of Google TV.
The motto of the new invention is: TV meets web. Web meets TV.

During that live event Google boys presented their future release as a revolutionary product designed especially for US people, who spend five hours per day watching TV.

They are trying to merge Web, which is a part that Google conquered ever since the search engine started with TV world, something totally new for them.
