HTC Merge wins the prize for the first CDMA Android World Phone

HTC MergeHTC Merge is the first CDMA Android World Phone from HTC and comes with HTC Sense UI flavor, HTC’s customization of Android. HTC Merge is not a high budget cutting edge technology phone, is rather a mid-range phone which joins the latest rally of HTC’s recent phones announced at the MWC.

The phone features a full QWERTY keyboard which makes the phone a heavy slided one even though it’s not that thick. HTC Merge will come with Android 2.2 Froyo and let’s hope that for the future it will support the 2.3 Gingerbread version. The HTC Merge is not going to bring an upgrade to old Android smartphone users0 because it doesn’t features something new and the specs, if you compared them to the latest additions, are below average. But don’t worry this is going to be a good phone for those who are stepping into a newand wiidespread world of Android smartphones.  The display of this phone is big, a 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen and on the back a normal 5-megapixel camera with shooter will serve your purposes of a general point-and-shoot camera. You can record videos up to 720p with the camera.

Acer Liquid Metal phone will be out in November

Acer Liquid MetalWe have seen a couple of leaked pictures and rumors in various sites about an Acer 3.6 inch handset. Now they have officially announced Acer Liquid Metal proving almost every rumor about it true. It is loaded with Android 2.2 Froyo and an 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM 7230 processor + 512MB RAM which are able to run it smoothly. As announced, this version of Android will response 5 times faster than the earlier versions. It is also accompanied by Acer UI 4.0 interface making your on screen navigation easier.

The display is a 3.6 inch WVGA capacitive screen and the camera is a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, image stabilizer, facial and smile recognition. Yes, like the latest smartphones you can record videos in HD at 720p with 30fps frame rate with this phone too. In case of playback also it beats many of its competitors with the ability to play Xvid high resolution videos. The audio playback is also enhanced by Dolby Surround technology and Dynamic Bass Boost.

T-Mobile G2 was officially announced today

T-Mobile G2When T-Mobile G1 was released, everybody became happy because it was a mobile device built with Google and HTC help. It happened in 2008 and since then no one ever complained about this phone.

Today we are more than happy to find out that earlier, during a press release made at Washington, T-Mobile announced they will soon release G2 phone.

T-Mobile G2 delivers 4G  speeds same as HTC Evo or Samsung Epic, but over HSPA+ network and is built on Android 2.2 Froyo platform.

The 3.7-inches display has 16M colors(G1 had 65k) and is featuring accelerometer sensor, swype text input, multi-touch input method. Like his younger brother, G2 has a QWERTY keyboard which unveils each time you slide the phone to the right side.

Motorola Droid 2 is Android 2.2 Ready

Motorola Droid 2So far 2010 it’s been a busy year for Motorola as it’s proven they release each month a new smartphone model. It’s great to see Motorola back on the market, but no one expected they will be so aggressive.

Today’s new wonder is called Droid 2 and is an Android 2.2 ready mobile device with a 5 megapixel camera and 1 Ghz processor.

From the first encounter with this phone, you will discover a 3.7-inches TFT screen with 854 x 480 pixel resolution and 16M colors. Sensors(accelerometer and proximity), multi-touch and swype methods are supported.

On the right side of the phone are the volume rockers and the camera shutter key, while on the left is the microUSB port. Above, on the top side of the phone is the Lock/Close button while at the bottom is the microphone.

Like the first Droid, this one has a four row QWERTY keyboard and to unlock it, you have to slide the phone to the right.

Android 2.2 Froyo was officially announced at Google I/O 2010

Android 2.2 FroyoA big event took place this week at Moscone Center in San Francisco. Google organized the I/O 2010 conference and brought together for two days thousands of developers to present their latest innovations in: web, mobile, and enterprise applications with Google and open web technologies such as Android, Google Chrome, Google APIs, Google Web Toolkit, App Engine, and more.

Even if we weren’t there, we will feature two of the most interesting things that occurred:  Android 2.2 Froyo and later, Google TV.

The event begun with a small presentation of what Android operating system means these days: there are over 60 compatible devices, 21 OEMs, 48 countries, 59 carriers that use it. Each day, over 100.000 activations are made and Google is now on the second place after RIM on US smartphone sales market. Android Market hosts now over 50.000 apps ready to be downloaded and thanks to 180,000 developers this number will be always modified.
