Apple TV 4K is a must have for every living room

Apple TV 4K HDRApple has announced the next generation of Apple TV – The Apple TV 4K. Apple aims to bring a complete cinematic experience into your home. Colours are given more clarity and brightness, images gain a crispness not seen on other Apple TV models, and the device looks like it’s worth the upgrade.

Apple TV 4K and the A10 Fusion Chip

The Apple TV 4K is run by the A10X Fusion Chip that’s found on the iPad Pro, and this chip enables the gadget to produce 4K video. There is support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 for use with any HDR TV. The device is designed to push the best image quality possible to the TV, meaning those who have an older HDTV or the newest 4K Dolby Vision OLED will get great quality movies and TV shows.

The TV’s 4K settings are detected and the Apple TV 4K optimises the settings for the user for ease of use. There is a 4K video scaler that improves HD content for 4K screens.

Siri and TV app

Siri and the Apple TV app have been updated to support more services in seven more countries. Siri helps users to find movies and TV shows in 4K with the ease of their voice – Just say “Show me movies in 4K” and the options pop up. Users will be able to get live updates or watch sport by saying “Watch the game” or “What’s the score?”. Notifications for your favourite team will pop up at your request, so you don’t miss what’s happening in the game.

The TV app will work on Apple TV and iOS with support for over 60 services. The countries that will have access to the TV app include Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Norway, Sweden and the UK. This will be available by the end of the year.

The app can share videos and photos from your Apple devices via iCloud on to the big screen of your TV. The gadget will have support for AirPlay 2 to allow you to send movies, television shows, home videos and photos outside of iCloud. There will be the ability to control multiple AirPlay 2 compatible speakers as well. Apple TV is designed to be the hub of your smart home and works well with Apple’s HomeKit.

Apple TV 4K is priced at $179US for the 32GB model and $199US for 64GB. Preorders for the device start on Friday 15th September, and it will be released on the 22nd September.
