The Apple Watch Series 3 has been shown off, and it looks like Apple is figuring out what users are using the device for. There’s a host of new features that will help with your health and fitness, stay connected with friends, family and work, and it will do it all faster than before.
Apple Watch Series 3 Basics
The S3 the powers the Apple Watch Series 3 has a dual core processor. The wireless chip is a W2 chip that provides Wi-Fi that’s 85% faster. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are now 50% more power efficient than previous models. The gadget also has a barometric altimeter that tracks your activity, flights climbed and outdoor workouts.
For starters, the Apple Watch Series 3 now features a full LTE and UMTS cellular radio. This means that the watch can receive and make calls, messages and switch without a hitch to the cellular network when you’re away from your iPhone. You won’t need a second number as the watch will keep the same number as your iPhone.
watchOS 4
The Apple Watch Series 3 has a new OS, the watchOS 4. The focus of the new watchOS is fitness. The Heart Rate app gives you measurements when you rest, workout, during recovery and breathing sessions. If you’re interested in your heart rate, you can opt in for a notification to be sent if your beating becomes too fast.
An improved interface will display information during the day on your fitness. A new Workout app has customised High-Intensity Interval Training that works with exercises and swimming. The GymKit allows you to connect the watch to cardio equipment to get even more information on your health and fitness.

Apple’s AirPod headphones connect to the Apple Watch Series 3 to create a completely wireless experience. The music app has been redesigned to make creating and syncing playlists easier. Apple plans to allow you to stream music and the Radio app will mean you can listen to any Beats 1 or Apple music radio station while on a cellular network.
The device will come in silver, space grey aluminium, gold aluminium, silver or space black. There is a new range of bands from the sport loop to the Apple Watch Edition. The popular Apple Watch Nike+ has been upgraded to the Series 3 as well.
The pricing for the Apple Watch Series 3 starts at $399US for the GPS + cellular model. The GPS model is $329US.
