Yesterday, November 1 2010, Logitech Innovations announced their first “Light” powered product, The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750. We are guessing that people at Logitech are taking the “Green revolution” pretty seriously!
Logitech calls this keyboard “Gift from the future” with a cheesy grin on its face as the product uses the naturally available and most abundant form of renewable energy: you guessed it, the Sunlight. At just 1/3 inch thick, the keyboard looks elegantly stylish. The edges are rounded with a smooth finish and the entire body has a black glossy finish at the front plate and a white matte at the back panel, adding to the looks. The keys used are Logitech incurve concept that has inner depth to comfortably seat your fingertips as you type. There are two solar panels on top portion of the keyboard that readily and effectively charge the device under any available light, indoor light sources inclusive.
The keyboard communicates with your computer through an advanced 2.4 GHz wireless receiver dongle called the Logitech Unifying receiver that supports up to 5 different wireless Logitech products simultaneously, saving you the hassles of plugging-in a receiver for each device you use and eliminates occupying of all those USB ports on your system.
Moving on to the functionality and productive features, the K750 deserves thumbs up! The keyboard is as sleek as it can be, has no protruding contacts, and Logitech claims that your fingers will glide on them as you type, courtesy, with love. No more frustration when batteries run out (a common phenomenon on most wireless devices) as the K750 virtually uses no batteries at all. It supposedly can go on for 3 months at a stretch in total darkness on a single charge! Now, that’s innovation at its best!
The Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 though not the first of its kind, it definitely looks promising and is here to stay! You can pre-order one of these babies at their website for about 80$ USD and own all the bragging rights to scream out “Look ma, No wires!” and of course, we gave you an excuse to wear the “Go green” Tees you always wanted to.
