Samsung I8000 Omnia 2

samsung_i8000_omnia2Today Samsung unveils another mobile phone model: I800 Omnia II. It looks close to Omnia HD and iPhone, but we will see is different inside.

It come s with a very large 3.7″ resistant WVGA AMOLED touchscreen with 16M colors, same as Omnia HD model, but larger than iPhone models.

Under the display we find 3 buttons, the middle one is a 3D cube and is has very interesting interacting options. At the top of the phone you will find: the power button, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a microUSB port. On the left side is situated the volume rocker and on the other side you find Back key and the task switcher / shutter key combo .

It weights 117 g, have round edges and the following dimensions: 118 x 59.6 and 11.9 mm thickness. We dare to say is not big, is not small and looks perfect in our pockets.

Comparing to Omnia HD, the I8000 camera has just 5 megapixels and includes features such as autofocus, Dual Power LED flash, Geo-tagging, face and smile detection. Videos are shoot at a resolution of 720×480 and 30fps(3GP format).

The phone runs Windows Mobile 6.1 operating system on a 800MHz CPU. It is quite understandable why, because the  TouchWiz user interface has to support impressing applications:

  • 3D Media Gate, a 6 side cube which gives you access to 6 multimedia features: Photo album, Music player, Video player, FM Radio, Games and internet.
  • Motion UI give access to multimedia favorites as well as speed dialing just by tapping, tilting or flipping the handset.
  • Touch Player which plays and supports video, audio and playlist files.
  • The Photo Gallery has lot of modes that help you to view images: grid view mode, 3d arc view mode.
  • Internet experience is through Opera 9.5 browser and supports Flash.
  • Built-in Gps receiver with Gps navigator.

Samsung Omnia 2 have following connectivity options: 3G, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, Gps and microUSB 2.0.

Phone comes with an Li-Ion 1500 mAh standard battery and an internal memory of 2/8/16 Gb and support for microSD cards(up to 32Gb).

It is expected that to phone will be launched near the end of this year and we don’t know for sure any estimated price.
