Android 2.3 comes with a flavour of Gingerbread

Android GingerbreadGingerbread is the name for the 2.3 version of Android and today is the time to discover how this changes is different from the previous versions. The sources that rumoured that the changes in Android 2.3 would be minor are now silenced totally. With the official announcement of Nexus S, Google also announced that they have finished Android 2.3 and their next mobile phone will be one of the first devices that will get it.

The first change that needs to be mentioned is the change of User Interface(UI). This time the navigation is easier to use and more battery friendly. The look of notification and its behavior has been also changed and now almost all the elements of the UI have been redesigned like the background, scroll bars, menu icons, keyboard etc. The keyboard is better now because the virtual keys have been re-sized and given a more user friendly interface.

A rumour that will be true: Google Nexus S

Google Nexus SThe rumors about the Google Nexus S are spreading like wildfire and the official announcement is very close. Leaked photos are coming online one after another. In all those images the common things are rounded edges, front camera, a big touchscreen and last of all the OS: Google Nexus S will be running Android 2.3 ‘Gingerbread’. This is one of the reasons that creates more and more rumors: according to the leaks the phone will run a stock version of Android. It means there will be no manufacturer’s customized UI in it and this will be a pure Android experience.

One of the most trustworthy sources are the pictures from Flickr. Reports say that the camera has 5 megapixels and features autofocus and a LED flash. Another interesting fact is that the pictures are uploaded by various Google employees. The model number which is showed in the camera information was GT-i9020 which is the estimated model number of Nexus S.
