Samsung adds two new models to their Series 9 Laptops

Samsung Series 9S LaptopA year ago Samsung unveiled a new series of laptops known as the Series 9 laptop at the Consumer Electronics Show 2011. These incredibly thin laptops are known as ultrabooks became popular ever since their first release. Now every major laptop manufacturer is producing ultrabooks this year for the CES 2012, and Samsung is adding to the collection as well.

Revisiting their original Series 9 laptops Samsung decided to spice the collection up with two new Series 9 laptops. These two are not actually termed “ultrabooks” however they are incredibly thin and weigh next to nothing. The two laptops are a 13.3 inch and a 15 inch laptop. The 13.3 inch model weighs just 2.5 pounds while the 15 inch model weighs only one pound more.

These two new Series 9 laptops boast beautiful dark aluminum cases that make them sleek, lightweight, and incredibly durable. Additionally Samsung is using a new trick that will delight customers: fitting a larger display on a smaller chassis. Their 15 inch display model is set in a 14 inch chassis while the other 13.3 inch display is fit on a 12 inch chassis.

Will the new E-Reader Hanvon C18 come to the U.S?

HANVON C18In the United States there is fierce competition between e-readers, especially between the two biggest names in the business: Amazon and Barnes & Noble. While both the Kindle and the Nook have incredible features and are fantastic e-reading devices, a new contender recently emerged overseas and was just announced at the Consumer Electronics Show on January 10th.

Qualcomm Chief Executive Paul Jacobs had the pleasure of announcing the thinnest and lightest e-reader at the CES 2012 the other day. It’s called the Hanvon C18 and Hanvon utilized Qualcomm’s new energy efficient mirasol display for their new e-reader.

Mirasol is a technology Qualcomm has been working on for several years and it is a solution to the energy consuming LCD displays that other devices utilize. Mirsol is a type of display screen that utilizes soft indirect light which is then tuned and reflected back at the viewer. Overall the Mirasol display uses 1/10th of the power to create a vivid image than an LCD screen does.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 will power TVs, Notebooks and Smartphones

Qualcomm MSM8960 TabletQualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs announced at the Consumer Electronics Show Tuesday that the S4 processor, their latest creation, will be loaded later in 2012 into notebooks, smart TVs, and smartphones, and digital media adapters. They are not joking either. There are more than 70 devices designed around this new chip, from more than 20 manufacturers. Qualcomm is even working together with Microsoft on LTE solutions, utilizing S4 chips. The S4 chips have integrated Wi-Fi and high performance built-in graphics adapters.

A 1.5 GHz quad-core is the main feature of the Snapdragon S4 MPQ8064 processor. Both the graphics and audio are built-in, based on Qualcomm’s Krait micro-architecture-Adreno™ 320 graphics and advanced audio/video capabilities. This reduces power consumption and increases the performance in the mobile computing experience.

Google raises the bar for Android by introducing Design guidelines for Ice Cream Sandwich

Android Design GuidelinesBeautiful and simple. This is how every mobile operating system should be. For some, having a bright mind was enough to create beautiful and simple things like Apple does. In Google’s case it took years to find a person capable to raise the bar and finally create something simple and attractive as a mobile operating system. For those who don’t know what I am talking about, it is about the latest version of Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the one that was announced last year at the same time with Galaxy Nexus phone.

Ice Cream Sandwich is the first Android version that is capable to run on both mobile phones and tablets and also the first one that completely changes the UI, design, style and so on. When Apple released the iPhone they introduced a whole new way of interacting with the phone and later with the tablet. This experience was simple, fast and beautiful.

Will Lumia 900 Smartphone help Nokia to re-enter the US Market ?!

The Nokia Lumia was built exclusively for AT&T (yes, Verizon is left out again!) and it is a powerful new smart phone with a large screen, incredibly thin case, fast processor, and much more! The download speeds alone on the Lumia 900 are as fast as 50Mbs on the AT&T 4G LTE network. These speeds will drastically increase the users experience while using the web. No more waiting for movies to load before watching them, no more wait to view emails – everything responds instantaneously and without pause.

Acer Iconia Tab A200 will be available from January 15th at $329

Acer Iconia Tab A200Acer Iconia Tab A200 did not pass without notice through the FCC’s hands, but it was clear we would soon see it in the U.S. The press release announced a release date for January 15th. The price is not so bad, either, starting at $330. It is a good price for a 10-inch tablet ready to be loaded with the Ice Cream Sandwich update. The update, though, is not due out until February.

If you shell out an extra $20 you will get the 16GB tablet. Otherwise, it is the 8GB version. Each tablet has a microSD, 2MP front cam, the NVIDIA dual-core Tegra 2 SoC, and 1280×800 display. The battery is supposed to last as many as eight hours, runtime. But keep in mind that the Iconia is one of the last tablets that still has the full-sized USB 2.0 port.

A Tablet designed for Children: OLPC XO 3.0

OLPC XO 3.0There are numerous apps and games for mobile devices that are targeted towards children, but never before has there been a tablet that is specifically tailored to younger kids…until now. Take a look at the OLPC XO 3.0.
