Acer has been busy at work getting new devices ready. The company announced a budget gaming notebook, the Nitro 5, the Acer Spin 1 convertible and two Iconia tablets with Android Nougat. These devices are worth a look if you’re in the market for a new laptop or tablet.
The new devices from Acer are for users who don’t have an excess amount of money to spend. The Nitro 5, Spin 1 2 in 1, Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia One 10 are excellent for their price. They are not the laptops or tablets with the best specs, but the devices are worth considering if you don’t want to pay top dollar. You will be able to get your gaming done and play most games. The laptop and tablets are devices that won’t let you down, so you know you can rely on them.
Acer Releases the Nitro 5
First up, there’s the Nitro 5. The case looks smooth and serious with dark red accents around the keyboard and hinge. Designed for people who want a sleek laptop that is for gamers. The Nitro 5 is a sports car in design.
The screen of the Acer Nitro 5 is 15.6 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. For RAM, the laptop has 32GB DDR @ 2400 MHz. Storage is an SSD maximum of 512GB (PCIe) and HDD maximum 2TB (SATA). Different versions of the laptop have different storage options. The ports are 1 Gigabit Ethernet port, 1 USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-C port and one more USB Type-C port for charging. There are 2 USB 2.0 Type ports. An HDMI 2.0 that supports 80Hz refresh. The keyboard has red backlighting. Other things of interest are the matte black with a hairline finish, bold black grill vent and the red hinge on the back.
Users have a choice of processors. The Nitro 5 comes either seventh generation Core i5 or i7 Intel processors. The graphics chip for the Intel laptops is the Nvidia GeForce GTZ 1050 Ti graphics chip. If you want the AMD processor, there is a choice of the seventh generation A-Series FX, A12 or A10 APU. For the AMD laptops, the graphics chip is the Radeon RX 550 graphics chips.
Cooling the machine is done by dual fans and Acer’s Coolboost technology. Users can manually control the cooling process if the laptop is being pushed to the limits.
Acer Spin 1
The Acer Spin 1 is a laptop and a tablet. The keyboard spins around (Thus the name of the gadget) to change between a laptop or tablet. Tent mode allows you to use the keyboard as a stand, making the display easy to view on a desk or an airplane tray table.
The processor of the Acer Spin 1 is a seventh-generation Intel Pentium of Celeron processor. The battery is claimed to last up to 8 hours per charge. The display is 11.6 inches with a resolution of 1920 x 1080. RAM is 4GB DDRL and storage options are 32GB, 64GB or 128GB. For the panel, there are IPS with Touch support. The ports are 1 USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, 1 USB 2.0 Type A, 1 HDMI port and one microSD card slot. Bluetooth 4.1 and Wireless AC (2×2) with up to 867Mbps.
With sound, the speakers are Acer True Harmony supported with two speakers on the sides. Precision Touchpad, Acer Bluelight Shield tech, and Acer’s Active Stylus are with the Spin 1. The body is metal and silver and has 1080 Full HD resolution.
Acer’s Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia One 10 Tablets
The Acer Iconia Tab 10 and Iconia One 10 tablets contain Android Nougat 7.0. Audio for the Tab 10 is very decent – The gadget has four speakers and a subwoofer. There are 8 hours of battery life for both devices.
For the processor, Acer has chosen a MediaTek processor for both devices. Screen size is 10-inches and contain In-Plane Switching technology (The Nitro 5 and Spin 1 also contain this technology). Both devices have five magnet speakers powered by DTS-HD Premium Sound. Wireless AC connectivity is on both tablets.
The Iconia Tab 10 has Quantum Dot Display technology. The thickness of the tablet is 0.55 inches. Acer has included its MediaMaster. This allows users to create a profile and controls their movie and music collection.
The Iconia One 10 has two micro USB ports that support On-The-Go, and it has a white frame.
Acer has announced the release date and pricing of the Nitro 5 and Spin 1. The Nitro 5 will cost $799US and will come out in July. For the Spin 1 2 in1 device, the price will be $329 and come out in July as well. The Spin 1 is excellent value, decent specs and a low price. No pricing or release date has been set for the Iconia Tab 10 or Iconia One 10.
