Top 5 must have gadgets for 2015 Holiday Season

Happy Christmas2015 is a year that wasn’t the most mind-blowing with digital devices but was one where you could almost feel the future coming.

Microsoft finally worked out how to make a tablet that can replace your laptop. Apple designed the Watch which is a step forward in hardware and will shine when developers create killer apps that demand the Watch be on your wrist. Epson finally changed the way people print with the Eco-Tank printer series. Sony’s Playstation 4 and Roku 3 showed what a device with focus and a specific job to do (Instead of being another device that attempts to do everything). Below is a list of my favourite digital devices from 2015. It was a tough list to make, but these are the devices that impressed the most and are the top 5 must have gadgets for 2015.

Sony Project MorpheusProject Morpheus, the official virtual reality product line by Sony, has been announced this week. It appears that Sony is the latest to follow in the footsteps of Oculus Rift, the 3-D VR gaming headset.

In many ways, virtual reality is the next major wave in technology. At least, that is the hope by developers who have been attempting for many years to come up with a viable, working product that uses the concept.

With Oculus Rift seeing its final dev kit released this week for its second gen model, this was the prime time for Sony to throw their hat into the ring.

Sony PlayStation 4After much anticipation, latest in the Sony gaming franchise is hitting shelves today in North America. The much hyped PlayStation 4 has gone on sale, and already reviews are circulating on the internet.

Sony has been struggling for awhile to reestablish themselves as King of the console wars. With the PlayStation 3, they didn’t manage to gather as much interest as their second generation. Which gave the Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii the space they needed to surge to dominate the market. Both have carved out a large share of the market.

But the Wii U was far less impressive, and the Xbox One has already created a stir with gamers concerned with privacy, annoyed with DRM conditions, and unsatisfied with the nickel and dimming of the Microsoft corporation.

Xbox One vs PlayStation 4When it comes to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles, the debate is right now more intense than ever before. We still see the console wars raging, but now there are fewer choices to battle it out. Old school gamers will remember the console wars in the 80’s and 90’s. It seemed there was a new device out every other month, and most of them flopped…hard.

I recently saw a post on Reddit about this fight. It showed the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as Voldemort and Harry Potter, tensely glaring at one another with wands drawn. Below then was an image of Luna Lovegood…as the Nintendo Wii. That pretty much sums up the console wars in a nutshell.

But the truth is, PlayStation 4 has managed to reach the top for the moment, as backlash against the Xbox One continues to increase.

Sony PlayStation 4 HolidayIn 2013 all gaming enthusiasts are excited: PlayStation 4 will be released and rumour has it Microsoft will do the same with Xbox 720 or whatever the name of their next generation console will be. Although until now we just have the official specs of the upcoming PlayStation 4 console and some leaked and rumoured specs of Xbox 720 analysts believe Sony’s console will win the battle.

PlayStation 4 event was one of the strangest event I ever watched. It’s similar with what happened when Microsoft announced Surface tablets last year. It was that type of event where you see just a small part of what’s coming while the most interesting things are left to be announced later.
