For those who want the immediate listing on that I’ll let you know quick, but there will be a few other pieces of news and information on the product as well. The actual release date? Well Samsung has pulled an Apple styled announcement for timing here. The release if the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 is actually going to be today, August 16th with a price point of $499 for the 16GB version and $549 for the 32GB version.
Android early adopters may be a bit annoyed that it is being shipped with Ice Cream Sandwich though shouldn’t worry as there has already been an official announcement that it is getting a Jelly Bean upgrade later this year. No official date has been announced yet, but I would imagine with the announcement coming before release date any early adopters won’t have to be waiting ‘too long’ before they get the latest and greatest in Android tablet OS’s.
Spec wise the system the system’s screen is going to have a 10-inch visibility with a 1,280 x 800 resolution that has a TFT LCD display. Also on the outside of the tablet itself will be 2 cameras: a 1.9-megapixel front-facing for video chat and for taking pictures of video a 5-megapixel rear camera. The case itself will be grey or white. There may be future colors available for the tablet but on launch it looks like we’re stuck with only the lighter colors (as many tablet owners have cases for their tablets as they do their phones this won’t be a deal breaker for many.
The internals on the system are pretty decent specced out as well. It’s being run on a quad-core Exynos 4 CPU clocked at 1.4GHz and will have 2GB RAM. Speed wise that runs the general specs and slightly above what else is out there. For memory it has microSD storage at 32GB which is expandable to 64GB. Finally for the battery life it has a 7,000mAh battery.
This is also one of the first Samsung tablets to have a stylus included with the system itself. The display is set to have an advanced handwriting recognition software built into their custom Android OS itself as well as a digitizer panel that is designed to specifically work with the software giving it a leg up above a regular stylus interface. They plan on launching with a few pre-loaded applications that will take advantage of it such as Adobe Photoshop Touch and Samsung’s S Note among others.
