Lenovo’s ThinkPad and IdeaPad Tablets use different Operating Systems

Since the moment they revaled IdeaPad U1, Lenovo stepped up its game and released their new tablets available in the market: the ThinkPad and the IdeaPad K1 and P1 both featuring Honeycomb 3.1. Lenovo also developed their very own App Shop, which is a lot like the one for Apple. With unique differentiators and a limited Netflix partnership, it looks like the company took their time to make the wait worthwhile.

ThinkPad Tablet

This Honeycomb 3.1 tablet – which features a 10.1 in screen – was created mainly for business individuals, sporting an impressive 1280 x 800 resolution display with 3G and WiFi options. It might not be the thinnest tablet developed but it will run on a 1 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor and 1.6 GB of RAM with 24.1 Wh battery. It also has an HDMI slot with USB 2.0 and micro USB ports. The Thinkpad also has a front and rear camera. SD cards and SIM can also be inserted on the edge.Since you may be wondering, there are certainly a few accessories available for this interesting device. For an additional $30, you will be able to obtain the N-Trig active digitizer, and an optional stylus, which helps the user take detailed notes on the screen. Apps are also available for the ThinkPad; plus, you can also purchase a keyboard portfolio dock for $99. Third-party applications can also be used aside from Lenovo’s Netflix partnership, where streaming movies from the Internet is possible. This will be released in August and will be available for the retail price of $499.

IdeaPad K1

This tablet is packed with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch 1280 x 800-resolution display with a 10 point touchscreen. Unlike the ThinkPad, the K1 doesn’t have HDMI ports or a micro SD reader. It happens to be slightly thinner than the ThinkPad and weighs about 1.65 pounds. Lenovo is using its own Android skin.

Aside from having Netflix, the IdeaPad also has Zinio, Kindle and mSpot, just to name a few. It also has its own social touch interface for quick access to social networking sites, such as Twitter and Facebook. Lenovo’s own app shop is installed in both devices, as well.  The IdeaPad K1 has already been released and it’s available in the market at a price of $449.

IdeaPad P1

In addition, Lenovo has developed the IdeaPad, which surprisingly runs on Windows 7. It sports a 1.5 GHz Intel processor with a 1280 x 800 capacitive touch screen display. It features Bluetooth connectivity and WiFi.  It also has slots for USB 2.0 and Micro SD memory card. This tablet is perhaps one of the last Window 7 releases; this is due to the fact that Windows 8 is already in the oven. Accessories include a pen (not included and it’s optional), which is slightly bulkier when compared others of the same kind, at .57 inches thick. The IdeaPad is equipped with a 2 MP camera in front, and its release is said to be on the fourth quarter of the current year.
