It’s helpful to have a smartphone with powerful specs inside it. Not because of the power, but due to it being compatible with new apps being released or to take advantage of new features added to OS updates. The cost of having the latest flagship model Android or Apple smartphone is usually not worth the upgrade. As said, having a powerful smartphone is helpful but it isn’t required.

Last year, OnePlus, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer released a smartphone that wasn’t expected, the OnePlus One. This smartphone packed with powerful technology and was priced at a low $299. This year, rumours have gone around about a new model that’s planned for release this month, the OnePlus 2.

The OnePlus 2 is hoped to be a “flagship killer”, taking on Apple’s iPhone 6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S5. The smartphone hasn’t been shown to the public yet, but TENAA, a Chinese wireless regulator, have released images of the OnePlus 2. It is a similar design as last year’s model but has its insides improved. A home button is on the device that is likely to be a fingerprint scanner. Described as lightning quick by the company last month, OnePlus made the claim it’s faster than Apple’s iPhone TouchID system.

The device will have 4GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 810 CPU running the system. This will make it work fast, and the price of the OnePlus 2 is said to be under $450. Not as cheap as the previous model, but still a good price if the device lives up to its rumours. OnePlus 2 uses the next generation in USB hardware, with a reversible USB Type-C connector. The USB Type-C connectors are a lot faster than USB 3.0 and can be used for more functions.

Dual SIM card support is said to be designed into the hardware. This gives the OnePlus 2 something different compared to Apple and Samsung’s top smartphones. The camera on the OnePlus 2 is said to perform better in the night than the iPhone 6 as well. So far though the OnePlus 2 hasn’t been unveiled yet. It has been getting a lot of attention due to the surprise of the OnePlus One and there are a lot of people who want to see if a new smartphone can compete with Apple’s iPhone 6 and Samsung’s S5. The unveiling of the OnePlus 2 will happen on the 27^th of July.
