Apple iPad 2017Apple has announced new features on their latest iPad, as well as updates to their iPhone 7 and iPhone 7+, and their Apple Watch.

The iPads New Focus On Display

The biggest news is probably the 9.7 inch retina display on the latest iPad incarnation. Though tablets are becoming a dime a dozen on the market, Apple has managed to keep a firm lead in quality over many of the brands popular today. The iPad is a staple in the tech, and they have been working to improve their display features for awhile.

Office for iPadMicrosoft has announced that they have released a version of Office for iPad users, nine months after also launching an iPhone mobile app.

This has been a long time coming. Microsoft is notorious for refusing to share their software, remaining isolated as they attempted to push the Windows Phone into a more dominant market position. The last thing they wanted was to give a major competitor access to one of their most popular pieces of software.

Samsung vs AppleThe trial between Apple and Samsung is a case over patent disputes between two companies who are viciously fighting for the same market space. While in the long run this will probably be bad for consumers due to raised prices or limited products on one side or the other during the short run we’ve been finding out all kinds of fun details about the companies. The courts have insisted that both companies open up their sales books and give us a slew of new information on how each company is doing and how products were developed. While regular stock reports give us limited amounts of this date we’re actually able to see exactly how much of a product has now sold in a time period by both of these two electronics juggernauts.

This summer Apple is busy with iPhone 5 and a lot of speculations

Apple LogoIt’s been a big news for announcements on iOS apps and Apple, none of which never came directly from Apple though we did find some evidence that an iPhone 5 rumor was actually a fact. We’ll get to that in a minute though.

We’ve got a couple pieces of good news for the company in the form of a new app release and another app’s update, a couple pieces of bad news which will end up more annoying than anything, and another unofficial confirmation on a rumor concerning the new iPhone 5 that is mostly likely going to be announced next month. With so many hints on the rumor we’ll be talking about it would be great for Apple to step up and make an official announcement but as we all know it would completely go against their track record on how they deal with rumors.

Latest iPad “Mini” rumors: design, price and specs

iPad and iPad MiniFirst let me begin that here is no name set for the 7″ iPad that is expected to be announced in the near future. If it follows the iPod it will be called a Nano but the “iPad Mini” and “iPad 7″ have all been tossed around as well.

The Amazon Kindle has proven that 7″ tablets have a place in the hands of consumers and between its success and the upcoming pre-order success of the Nexus 7 this is the first piece of technology that Apple is going into in years where they are actually late to the table. That being said iPad’s are still the tablet of choice and therefor should have a quick advantage on taking the throne of the 7” tablet.

According to Mashable – Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, one of the industry’s top analysts, told attendees at the Fortune Brainstorm Tech conference in Aspen that an iPad Mini was “highly likely.”

So why is it likely? Well it basically is an easy way to expand their product line in the tablet market. While they own 90% of the 10″ market it lowers to 75% when you look at the market as a whole and that’s a lot of additional room to grow in still.

The latest tech battle is between Google and the iPad

Apple vs GoogleGoogle is going for Apple’s jugular by switching emphasis from smartphones to tablets. Is Apple scared? I doubt it. They will peddle tablets that are co-branded. Sources indicate that Google will sell them through a store much like Apple and Amazon. This is a last ditch effort to save struggling sales of Android based tablets. The question is whether or not it will work.

The Nexus One from HTC in 2010 was a similar flailing punch by Google, but they caved under the flood of better Android-based phones that hit the market a few months later. Google doesn’t get that having a piece of hardware with the search engine giants multi-colored logo on it makes it feel like a child’s toy – it cheapens it. Google is too full of themselves to get it though. I would never by hardware that has Google’s name on it. However, they have roped Samsung and AsusTek in on the deal of producing the hardware. So Google will not actually build the units, but they will be available from many retailers. In fact, Taiwan’s Asus is due to release the first co-branded tablet later this year, in the online store.
