iPad 2 and iPhone 4S Untethered Jailbreak is now available for iOS 5 Users

iOS 5 JailbreakLast year, in March 2011, the iPad 2 was released by Apple. Just a few months after that device was released the iPhone 4 was revamped and the iPhone 4S was released on October 4, 2011. Thousands of consumers flocked over to purchase these new gadgets – marveling in their capabilities and features however the new-ness quickly wore off and they began anticipating the release of something else: the jailbreak.

After months of waiting the Chronic Dev Team (a team of iOS hackers dedicated to freeing Apple products from their obnoxious constraints) began teasing followers with tidbits of information on the release of the jailbreak.

At first it was just tweets stating they were working on it tirelessly and that they “were close” and then, much to everyone’s delight, a video was released showing an untethered iPhone 4S sporting Cydia (see it here on YouTube).

My first impressions with the Apple iPhone 4S Device

Apple iPhone 4S BoxThe Apple iPhone 4S was released on Friday, October 14th and was a major hit worldwide. It certainly got me interested as soon as I heard the news that it was going to be released.

The core features of the device are: the A5 processor (similar to the iPad 2), the 8-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, 1080P video playback, adjusted antenna for twice the speed of the iPhone 4, Siri, and lots more. I was in line for device and was the first customer at my local corporate AT&T store to test it out!

The iPhone 4S is a beast of a device in my opinion. The processor is noticably faster than the iPhone 4 and it handles the multitasking feature a lot better. I am able to easily navigate through the Facebook application, have the Safari browser open, and have a movie in the background all at the same time. The best part is: there is no lag or signs of slowing down. I can’t even feel the device heating up! After the break you can see my first hands-on video with the iPhone 4S device.

Apple iOS 5

The Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2011) saw Apple open up regarding iOS 5, the update to its mobile OS. Apple’s iPod Touch, iPad, and iPhone all use iOS, so this is naturally a much anticipated improvement to version 4.

Although it isn’t due out until the Fall, Apple unveiled 10 out of the 200 improvements included in the new iOS 5 at the WWDC. They had to share the limelight during a two-hour keynote presentation last week, with iCloud and OS X 10.7, codenamed Lion.

Here are some of the best improvements in Apple’s next generation iOS.

Hackers managed to Jailbreak iOS 5 Beta short time after the Release

Apple iOS 5It seems that these last few months have been hacker months. This time the victim is Apple – once again – with their latest iOS. Allegedly hackers were able to jailbreak the newest iOS version in less than 24 hours after it was released in beta mode.

Before discussing about this we have to say that iOS 5th version was announced at WWDC 2011(along iCloud) and has more then 1500 new APIs for developers and a total of 200 new features for its users. It was a necesary update and it seams that this time Apple made the right move and corrected some of the issues that users were experienced problems with. During the WWDC keynote, Apple featured 10 of the iOS features: Notification Center, Newsstand, Twitter, Safari, Reminders, Camera, Mail, PC Free, Game Center and iMessage.

The group that perpetrated the iOS 5 hack is known as iPhone Dev Team, and they made it known through their Twitter account that they had successfully jailbroken the brand new iOS 5. According to the group the OS is vulnerable to limera1n, which is the popular jailbreak technique that releases iOS 4, 4.1, and 4.1.2.
