What is 4K (Ultra HD) and why you might not need it yet

This year at CES tech companies came with TV’s, Projectors, Camcorders stuffed with 4K feature. But what is 4K exactly ? Some of you probably know, but regular people that are not into technology might not.

What is 4K ?

4K, also known as Ultra HD or UHD is a term widely used for describing a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 Pixels or 4,096 x 2,160 Pixels. This resolution has four times more pixels than a FullHD (1080p) resolution.

Sony to bring Xperia Z1S smartphone to the US

Sony Xperia Z1SSony has announced at CES 2014 that an upgraded version of the Xperia Z1 smartphone called Xperia Z1S will be available in the U.S. from January 13th. This is good news, because Xperia Z1 has made a huge splash in various countries around the world.

The announcement came during the CES 2014 conference held in Las Vegas, and has been well received by tech junkies keeping a close eye on the event. Fans of Sony will remember that it was during previous CES events that models like the Xperia Z were shown off. Though predecessors didn’t gather nearly as much buzz as the Z1S already has.

Samsung announces Galaxy NotePro and TabPro tablets

Samsung Galaxy NotePROExciting news for Samsung fans as the brand has announced the NotePRO and TabPRO, the latest tablets of the Samsung Galaxy series. The devices were unveiled at the CES 2014 show in Las Vegas, Nevada today.

In all, there will be four tablet to choose from. The NotePRO 12.2″, and three TabPRO models at 12.2″, 10.1″, and 8.4″. All types will have an impressive 2560×1600 resolution, with 16:10 ratio widescreen display. Showing Samsung’s continued desire to lead the way in high definition screens, something they have already regularly shown in their mobile phones and past tablets.

LG rethinks the Smart TV with the revived WebOS

LG WebOS CES 2014Today at CES 2014, thanks to the reboot of the failed WebOS, LG has relaunched their Smart TV product line. But it has a brand new style and this time it looks like they may have just gotten it right.

Originally belonging to Hewlett-Packard, the WebOS was never a success. It launched back in 2009 at another CES, and there were whispers about its reappearance at the CES 2014. With LG buying out the platform back in March of last year, no one was really sure what form it would take, or what would be done with it.

Nvidia Tegra K1 CPU unveiled at CES 2014

Nvidia Tegra K1 CPUNvidia has been among the most anticipated brands in the lead up to CES 2014, mainly due to their tantalizing hints about coming processors for more powerful smartphones. Yesterday, they finally revealed their new Nvidia Tegra K1 CPU, which will be the next generation of power for the Android.

What makes this such an exciting release is that it isn’t, as expected, merely a chip for coming “superphones”. It is instead a multi-purpose processor that will be going in everything from Android mobile phones, to computers, to televisions, and even cars.

Though it is the latest in the Tegra family, CEO Jen-Hsun spoke out against media reports calling it the Tegra 5.
