Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is finally revealed

Samsung Galaxy Note 7Samsung has today officially announced Galaxy Note 7. Now that details have been finally released onto the internet, it appears some of the rumors were true. So let’s begin 🙂

Greater Security To Body and Software

The biggest news has so far been the security improvements. Not only when it comes to privacy concerns – which make up so many of the advances in modern smartphones following criminal hacks and NSA panicking -, but also for the physical device itself.

The body, as well as the included S Pen, is said to be waterproof, a relief for those of us who may or may not take our phones into the bath with us (don’t judge, I read in the tub). That doesn’t mean it is likely to survive a dive into the swimming pool. But if you spill your coffee and it is in the splash zone, you aren’t going to be checking your insurance policy.

Samsung Knox is still in place, but biometric data has been added for increased security. That includes retina scans. While it isn’t the first time such measures have been used, I can’t help but feel all excited and futuristic thinking of having a retina scan on my phone.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 Tech Specs

The 5.7-inch display comes in 2560 x 1440 Quad HD Dual-edge Super AMOLED, at a 518ppi. Keeping witht he tradition of Samsung going totally overboard with the graphics clarity to keep at the front of the tech line.

It has two processors, 2.15GHz and 1.6GHz, a Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. So the power is there to back up the high definition. Plus it boasts a full 4 GB of RAM, double what we would have seen just a year ago in most models.

To put it high above Apple, it comes with 64 GB on board storage, and still allows for a microSD card for expandable space. And for the first time the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 features a USB port. Where other brands are starting to remove jacks, Samsung is putting more in.

There is no word yet on price, though you can expect it to be pretty steep at retail value. If I had to guess, I would say over $500, probably less than $600 to compete with current new phones on the market. So look forward to that sweet contract price so many of us will succumb to.

It is set to be released in the next day, so keep an eye out for reviews. This is one of the more exciting phone releases this year.
