Hush wants to help silence your ears…smartly

Hush Smart EarplugsWe have all seen the many wireless earbuds and headphones that are circulating Kickstarter. But what about earplugs? With Hush, you can now disconnect yourself from the noise around you, the smart way.

These earplugs are a combination of wireless technology, sound cancellation technology, and good old fashioned foam. It molds to the inside of your ear to fit the canal comfortably, while blocking out as much noise as possible. The curved exterior makes it easy to pull them out without digging, and the padding keeps it from pressing harshly into the ear itself.

With different sounds available, you can use white noise, brown noise, pink noise, and nature sounds like rushing water, rain, thunderstorms, or even electronic sounds like a fan. These will be directly played at just the right decibel to cancel out noise around you, while allowing you to focus, relax, or sleep. Binaural beats are also available, which is very cool. The right beat sequence can either relax you, or make you more focused and alert.

Using a wireless connection to your smartphone, you can use gentle wake up calls to pull you out of sleep whenever you want. You just set the notification through your app, and it will do the rest.

Hush is rechargeable, with a small battery that plugs into a standard outlet. There is an additional USB port that lets you charge your phone at the same time. Which makes this officially the best possible product to have while you travel. Not only can you get some quiet while at the airport or on a plane, but you can charge your phone and Hush while waiting for flights. Without taking up too many outlets, and being hated by everyone around you.

Right now, Hush is available for $115, as their second early bird price. Estimated delivery is May 2015, and it comes with the charging pack, and three foam tips. There are 31 days left to buy through Kickstarter, though they have already overshot their goal by more than $65,000 at the time of this writing.

This is a cool project, and one that could be useful in any number of situations. As someone who often works in coffee shops, travels on buses and planes, and could use a lot more quiet in my life, I might actually contribute to this one myself.
