My first impressions with the Apple iPhone 4S Device

Apple iPhone 4S BoxThe Apple iPhone 4S was released on Friday, October 14th and was a major hit worldwide. It certainly got me interested as soon as I heard the news that it was going to be released.

The core features of the device are: the A5 processor (similar to the iPad 2), the 8-megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, 1080P video playback, adjusted antenna for twice the speed of the iPhone 4, Siri, and lots more. I was in line for device and was the first customer at my local corporate AT&T store to test it out!

The iPhone 4S is a beast of a device in my opinion. The processor is noticably faster than the iPhone 4 and it handles the multitasking feature a lot better. I am able to easily navigate through the Facebook application, have the Safari browser open, and have a movie in the background all at the same time. The best part is: there is no lag or signs of slowing down. I can’t even feel the device heating up! After the break you can see my first hands-on video with the iPhone 4S device.

The camera is also a promoting feature on the iPhone 4S. The 8-megapixel camera competes with the Android devices and holds up pretty well with the autofocus capability. With the autofocus feature, the device seemlessly shoots objects that have significant glare to them. Not only does glare get taken down by the autofocus feature, fine print on text documents is easily distinguishable and clear. I just have to say that the camera on the 4S is amazing and is a selling point. Here are some samples and a short video made with iPhone 4S camera.

Siri is an exclusive feature to this phone; not even the iPhone 4 has Siri. I cannot say that Siri is the most advanced piece of software I’ve ever seen, but it sure is cool. Siri picks up its user’s voice and interprets it as best as it can. For anyone that has English as a second language or has a distinct dialect in English might have issues with Siri. One Youtube user in particular uploaded a video of himself using Siri. This individual was Japanese and did in fact have a dialect in the English language. This hindered his ability to use Siri efficiently and Siri couldn’t navigate him to where he wanted to go. I’d say that if you have trouble speaking with an automated voice on a company’s telephone hotline, then Siri will most likely misunderstand you frequently. To me, Siri is just a bonus and is not the reason why I got the 4S.

Why did I upgrade to the iPhone 4S? Despite my friends’ posts on Facebook saying that it was a waste of money, I decided to purchase the 4S because it is the best iPhone available. I am aware that it isn’t the iPhone 5, but I will be sure to test that out myself when that is released. There is still a lot of time before the iPhone 5 will be released so that gives me enough time to stay up-to-date with this phone. I have provided some of my personal shots taken by the 4S and a video in the same environment. I hope you enjoy them!
