Apple have just announced a new version of their TV box wonder. This new version is smaller than the previous ones and is capable of playing 720p formats on TV. We will spend some time today to analyze this little box and see the official features published by Apple.
The design of Apple TV is simple: a black square box with round corners that measures 98 mm x 98 mm and has 23 mm thickness. It is also very light, weighting almost 300 grams and very fast because it’s equipped with A4 Apple processor(1Ghz), the same that you will find on latest iPhone, iPod Touch or iPod Nano.
This little box connects to high-definition TVs through HDMI port and is capable of playing 720p videos(various formats), audio and photo formats. Apple claims that his TV box will be supported by: Hitachi, JVC, LG, Mitsubishi, NEC, Panasonic, Philips, Pioneer, Samsung, Sony, Sharp, Toshiba, Vizio, Westinghouse.
Even if this is a little box, Apple TV has his own features just like a usual gadget: Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n) connectivity, IR receiver and four ports: HDMI, Ethernet , Optical Audio and microUSB.
We saw the supported formats and specifications of this box now let’s see how this thing will work. Apple TV will cost $99 and will act like a “gadget” that plays featured content from iTunes or Computer on the TV. As usual the content from iTunes will not be free and you will only have the option to rent it for 24 hours. Apple claims that to rent a movie we will have to pay $2.99 or $3.99 if we want to see it in HD format. Tv Shows will be cheaper and will come without commercials and in HD format for $0.99. Remember on our TV’s this box will output just 720p, even if the source movie will have 1080p or more.
To make you sit comfy on the couch when you watch the movie, Apple will include a small silver remote, but the device can be also controlled by iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch through Wi-Fi.
The menu is very simple and is divided five categories: Movies, TV Shows, Internet, Computer and Settings. Selecting the Internet category will give the chance to use: Netflix, YouTube, Podcasts, MobileMe, Flickr and Radio.
Apple TV box has been released last week and is available for online purchase at $99. In our opinion for $99 you will surely find another thing better than this, but we won’t give you any suggestion.
thanks for information
