Announced just two weeks ago at Berlin, Galaxy Tab is the first tablet released by Samsung and promises to be a tough enemy for Apple iPad. Today we will compare the specs of the tablets and you will choose who deserves to be bought. Fight!
From the beginning we have to say that Galaxy Tab is smaller than Apple one(9.7-inch), having just 7-inch TFT display. The screen resolution is also smaller, 1024 x 600 comparing with 1024 x 768 for the iPad, but this is not something you will notice. Smaller dimensions take effects on the weight of Samsung Tab, which is lighter, having 380 grams(iPad has 680 grams).
On the front of the Galaxy tablet is a 1.3 megapixel camera for video chat, while on the back is a 3 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash perfect for recording HD video. Apple iPad doesn’t have any kind of camera, but this is expected in the next version.
Moving forward to the software comparison we have to say that Samsung Galaxy is well prepared for this battle, having Android 2.2 (Froyo) with Samsung TouchWiz 3.0, while iPad has the re-branded iOS(old iPhone OS). On the app side we all know Android brings Android Market, while Apple has the App Store. Related to Apple and Adobe Flash issues we discussed before so we won’t develop this subject further. Samsung Galaxy Tab supports Adobe Flash 10.1. Another great advantage that Galaxy Tab brings over the iPad is the real multitasking. Offered through Android 2.2 OS multitasking has full abilities and is not limited as on Apple devices.
Both processors have same frequency, 1GHz, Samsung has an ARM Cortex A8, while the iPad has an Apple A4 chip. Storage has almost the same space on both tablets the difference is that Samsung one gives microSD card support, while Apple doesn’t. Galaxy tablet comes with 16/32GB on-board memory while iPad has 16/32/64GB. The only notable difference is at RAM: 512 MB on Samsung device and 256 MB on the one Apple made.
On the connectivity side Galaxy Tab has just a small advantage over the iPad: Bluetooth 3.0. The rest of the features are the usual ones: GPRS, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS and 3.5 mm jack port.
Samsung Galaxy Tab will be released this month and the estimated price is somewhere near $300-400(+ a monthly contract fee). The cheapest version of Apple iPad is available at $499.
Since when do iPads have contracts?
You are right, we misspelled.
Thank you for this!

There will be a ton of new tablets to smoke apple. Suck it Jobes! Quit being such a money hungry nazi and maybe your original ideas will quit being improved on by the competition… All of you apple sheep can commence defending your fuhrer!! Long live the freedom of Android!!!
Clearly they’re going after potential iPad users who want something more pocketable. If it’s as good as my Epic 4G (and it looks like it is), this is going to be one killer device.
Which Samsung, they even copied the data cable from Apple. That they can come up with yourself?
