The smartphone industry in America was overtaken by Apple iOS and Google Android. Yet, many of the formative companies had to rethink and rebuild their strategies. Microsoft and RIM were among them.
As far as shares of the U.S. market are concerned, Android maintained 53% in 2011. Apple’s share ballooned to 29%. The BlackBerry OS share slipped to 11%, while Microsoft could not get its game on, remaining around 2% with the Windows Phone.
Google and Apple have taken control of the game, coercing other players to completely reinvent themselves in this area. Ross Rubin, executive director of Connected Intelligence for the NDP Group, believes that 2012 will be the year which reveals the fruit of these companies’ labors. Against the domination of the U.S. Market by both Apple and Google, many other manufacturers are strategizing to regain lost ground in market shares. +Continue Reading
Your wait is up. Verizon has come through with the DROID Xyboards. The DROID Xyboard Tablets are already available online and are set to be released in stores, according to the plan publicized by Verizon. Verizon has developed a pattern for releasing in store three days after what has been released exclusively online ahead of time. Their press release announced the availability in stores December 12th, as expected.
Verizon calls it as if it were merely a single tablet. However, there are a few varying configurations to select from. Take for example the 8.2-inch tablet that comes with either 16G or 32G, as opposed to the 10.1-inch with 16G, 32G, or 64G. There really are five different tablets. The 10-inch tablets will cost $530, $630, and $730, respectively. The 8.2-inch tablets will run you $430 and $530, respectively. All of the tablets, though, will require you sign a two-year contract, to secure them at these prices. You must also buy a data plan that starts at $30 for 2G per month. +Continue Reading
The all new Motorola Atrix 2 has been recently launched by AT&T for just $99.00 along with their service contracts. It is an Android powered phone(Gingerbread), very much like its previous version, the Atrix 4G. The $99.00 pricing suggests that this device is created for basic smartphone utilities, rater than as a high end device.
The Atrix 2 has more of a businesslike demeanor, as it has nothing too flashy about it. However, there are a few changes made from the original Atrix to give it an elegant look. The screen size is 4.3 inches which is considerably bigger than the new iPhone 4. The front part is made of complete glass that edges all around the corners. Unlike the popular bright chrome sides that we see on most of the phones these days, the sides of this phone have a dark, silvery metal rim. The parts don’t appear to be expensive but that is quite understandable according to the pricing of the phone. It is more businesslike than glamorous. +Continue Reading

If you are interested in being one of the first people to test out the upcoming Android Operating System, the Motorola Droid Razr may be for you. Do you still have doubts that the next version of Android won’t be released in a matter of weeks? Well, today, ASUS chairman Jonney Shih confirmed that the Padfone will commence shipping in Q1 2012, so Android Ice Cream Sandwich should be releasing relatively soon. He also confirmed that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich would be one of the key additions to the device as well. +Continue Reading

The camera happens to be a wonderful beauty of 8 MP and it can record HD video at 1080p. As for the running default OS, Motorola equipped Droid 3 with Android 2.3 which runs smoothly on a system with 512MB RAM.
In addition to these attractive features, the Droid 3 comes with capabilities for a 3G Hotspot, which means that up to five different devices can be hooked up to the phone via Wi-Fi.
