Over 5000 developers will participate in what it seams to be a main event this year for tech world.

As we were used to, since 2007, Apple announces the next iPhone version in June, so we think this is the perfect time to unveil the next generation of iPhone. Don’t forget this is the first iPhone which leaked before it’s release date and some of his rumored features are: 5 megapixel camera, improved display, videochat conferencing, HD recording, microSIM slot, 512 Mb RAM and a bigger battery.

The event is running from June 7 to June 11 and will focus on unveiling latest innovations for developers: Application Frameworks; Internet & Web; Graphics & Media; Developer Tools and Core OS.

At the same event, Steve Balmer is rumored to present the next release of Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, that appears to allow developers to write native applications for the iPhone, iPad and Mac OS.

Apple engineers will deliver over 100 solutions-oriented technical sessions and labs. WWDC 2010 gives an incredibly diverse community the opportunity to connect with thousands of fellow iPhone®, iPad™ and Mac® developers from around the world.

Apple ignited the personal computer revolution with the Apple II, then reinvented the personal computer with the Macintosh. Apple continues to lead the industry with its award-winning computers, OS X operating system, and iLife, iWork and professional applications. Apple leads the digital music revolution with its iPods and iTunes online store, has reinvented the mobile phone with its revolutionary iPhone and App Store, and has recently introduced its magical iPad which is defining the future of mobile media and computing devices.

Even if we weren’t there, we will feature two of the most interesting things that occurred: Android 2.2 Froyo and later, Google TV.

The event begun with a small presentation of what Android operating system means these days: there are over 60 compatible devices, 21 OEMs, 48 countries, 59 carriers that use it. Each day, over 100.000 activations are made and Google is now on the second place after RIM on US smartphone sales market. Android Market hosts now over 50.000 apps ready to be downloaded and thanks to 180,000 developers this number will be always modified.

Next, to understand better what changes bring Android 2.2 (Froyo), five of the most interesting features will be discussed:

Speed

By adding JIT compiler to Froyo’s Dalvik virtual machine, Google managed to raise the speed to 2x-5x. A demo game was presented on two devices to see the differences between Eclair and Froyo updates and the last update reached 41 fps while the oldest only 29 fps.

Enterprise

There are over 20 new features available in Froyo for corporate users: auto-discovery, security policies, global address books, remote wipe, etc. Device admin API will also be supported and you will be able to backup your device if you plan to move to another one.

Services

A demo about Cloud-to-device Messaging API feature was presented. If you ever wanted to sent Google Maps Navigation directions from PC to the Android phone, now thanks to this feature, it is possible. Tethering and Hotspots will be available on the new OS and this means that your phone can act as a hotspot for other devices that would like to connect.

Browser

Because JavaScript loads 2x to 3x faster, Froyo browser will be one of the fastest mobile browser. Google is working hard to ensure that the future browsers will be able to use the camera, accelerometer thanks to some well designed APIs. Voice recognition will understand you better when you will want to call someone or just translate a text into another language.

One of the most expected browser feature was the support for Flash 10.1. It seams “much nicer [to work with Adobe] than just saying no.”

Market

Google announced new features for Android Market: find apps more easily, search inside apps, move apps to SD card and auto-update all and all are available on 2.2 Froyo. If an app crashes of causes an error, a feedback report can be sent directly to the developer and announce him what happened. This way, developers can view complete back end data, find out the problem and fix it.

So, to wrap it up the new improvements Android v2.2 Froyo get are pretty cool and seem to outclass Windows Phone 7 or iPhone 4.0 new OS.

Have you ever wonder why Apple CEO, Steve Jobs hates Flash(Adobe) so much? We haven’t done this till now, but we think is something strange between two big names.

All started in 2007 when Apple launched iPhone mobile device and same time with him, the iPhone OS. From the beginning they refuse to comment about any Flash support or things related to it, but few years after it seams they couldn’t resist and say directly: we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Apple made a clever move in 2008 with iTunes, which became the unique place to download official apps for Apple gadgets. Unofficial Apple blocked any third-party software from running unless you hack(“jailbreak“) your iPhone that could destroy your warranty or even ruin the device. At that time they claimed they are doing this(iTunes) for a reason: to have secure apps, free from viruses , spam and malware.

This was maybe a real basis, but they forgot to tell us that almost every download will cost money and Apple will only have to gain from this move. It was simple to understand that if you want to use/own an iPhone you either have to “jailbreak” it on your own risk or you have to buy apps and other stuffs from iTunes.

For developers wasn’t also easy to make apps for Apple as soon as they have the right to accept or refuse any soft product if it doesn’t comply with their rules. Strange apps as Wobble iBoobs, Baby Shaker which were considered a little sexy or violent appeared on iTunes while apps which involved public figures, even if they were used in comic books, were denied.

Same story happened after iPad release which is also locked, so you can’t use third party apps, even this is a tablet, not a phone. Let’s not forget the microSD card extension made unavailable on all Apple devices.

In a poor world where you could feed a whole country with 1 mil $, Steve figured out how to be more selfish and make more and more money. The recent “innovation” was announced during iPhone 4.0 OS and was named iAd. It’s easy to figure out from the name what this means->ads on iPhone. Steve told us the bright side-it would be an outstanding experience. This will be surely a plus for Apple and developers of the ads, but a minus for other ad platforms which use flash and can’t provide their services properly.

At the end of iPhone 4.0 OS press event, Apple allowed a little Q&A session with journalists, where Steve Jobs also participated. During the meeting one of the question was:

Is there going to be any change in Apple’s position on Java or Flash on version four?

and the response was short and easy to guess

NO

This was the point where everyone started to ask how could this not be possible and weeks after Apple couldn’t resist anymore and release a letter called “Thoughts on Flash” signed by Steve Jobs itself.

Letter was full of accuses :

Adobe Flash is not an open source as HTML, CSS and JavaScript are.

The lack of Flash doesn’t affect so much the users, because H.264 is more modern than Flash and is viewable on Apple products.

Apple accused Flash for reliability, security and performance saying that Flash is the reason that cause Macs to crash.

Flash drain battery when playing videos while the modern decoder, H.264 can play them for a long period.

Flash was created for PC and it needs to be modified in order to run on touch devices, but once again Apple wants to use modern technologies like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.

This intelligent move seeks to somehow lay low Adobe Flash, but if Apple can resist Adobe(Flash), we are not so sure it will resist Google(Chrome) or Microsoft(Silverlight) platforms.

Final interesting thing is that Google announced Flash to be available on Android 2.2 version, which will be released during 2010, while Apple could face antitrust investigation(for iAd platform and Flash).

Big day today at Apple headquarters where took place the Apple iPhone 4.0 OS preview. What everybody expected is now confirmed by Steve Jobs itself: multitasking will be supported soon on all Apple devices.

Like usual the event started with some updates: 450.000 iPads had been sold, 3.5 million times an iPad app had been downloaded till today and the number of total apps in AppStore reached 185.000. Next we go to iPhone, which sold out in almost 50 million units.

Now let’s see the “developer preview” for iPhone 4.0 OS. It seams it will be released this summer and contains over 1500 new APIs and 100 new user features.

Dear, Holy Multitasking…might say some of Apple lovers, this is finally a dream come true and now we can execute more than one action, same time on our iPhones. The demo seems flawless, Steve showed us he can surf ebay, play a game or check his mails. Each action it’s stopped when another launches in, but you can switch back to it without a problem, the multitasking tray can be accessed by hitting the Home button. He explained that Apple managed to implement the multitasking feature preserving battery life and performances.

We told you there are over 1500 new APIs through this OS update and Apple presented 7 of them:

-Background audio feature show us how Pandora app can play in background without interrupting you doing other things.

-Voice over IP featured Skype app and we found out that we can receive calls or updates on our iPhones even if they are locked. A red bar will appear in the top of the phone to remind that you are still in a call.

-Background location will update the status of your location so each time you will change your position the iPhone will wake up and update it. On the status bar an arrow will be added to indicate each time an application will ask your location.

-Push Notifications

-Local Notifications will appear on the screen each time we perform an action(eg. when you connect the iPhone to TV).

-Task Completion was presented through Flickr’s file upload. We can continuously upload photos on our account in the background even if we switch away from this action.

-Fast app switching one of the most expected feature will let us switch through the apps, storing the state of each running app and then resuming one of them.

Mail service has been optimized also and now we can use an unified inbox, multiple exchange accounts, fast inbox switching, threaded messages or open attachments with apps.

Another good thing is that Games or Apps can now be selected and put into folders. You can have unlimited folders on the menu and they will act just like an icon. So now from 180, you can have 2160 apps.

Games will contain several features: social gaming network, invite friends, matchmaking, leaderboards and achievements. It seams they want to get near the PS3 or Xbox customers.

iBooks option, released on same time with the iPad will be also on the new iPhone 4.0 OS.

iAd is there to make a challenge for Google Ad-Sense and Steve Jobs boys felt that there is a “bread to eat” in this section. The bad news is that the ads will be placed inside apps, even if they say that this will be a mix of emotion + interactivity and won’t redirect you towards that ad destination. Apple says they will sell and store this ads and give to developers 60% of the revenue.

Each time you click an iAd, you will expand it to the screen, but an “x” will appear if you plan to go back to your app.

It will be available on iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch 2-and and 3-rd generation, but the 3G model and the 2-and generation of iPod Touch will not support multitasking. For the iPad it will be released later this year.

Enough for the moment, the new iPhone 4.0 OS version will be out sometime this summer, but still we didn’t find out anything about the 4-rd generation of iPhone.

Microsoft wants again to win a battle against Mozilla Firefox and it seems Internet Explorer 9 is set to go. The announcement has been made during MIX 2010 which take place at Las Vegas during 15 and 17 of March.

Internet Explorer is one of the browsers that we all had to use some day when we didn’t knew we had another alternative to browse the Internet. In modern days IE browser is used just to browse towards Mozilla site and get Firefox browser. Statistics say that, we don’t.

At the beginning Microsoft didn’t understood Firefox success, but lately Bill Gates boys seemed to use their brains a little more and find a solution. Internet Explorer 9 uses some of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome secrets. How cool is that? Is not, really.

From Microsoft page about this latest invention we find out that Speed, HTML5 and Graphic are the new words for IE9 engine.

It seams Microsoft joined HTML standards in August 2009 and start to send his specialists on World Wide Web meetings. The idea behind HTML standards is to get an alternative on those kind of sites that told us “You should use Internet Explorer in order to see this page”. So soon we will be able to see this kind of sites even if we use Google Chrome, Opera or Mozilla Firefox.

A faster Javascript, CSS3 and Direct 2D technology seems to be the Microsoft’s all-in bets that they will make a browser faster enough to battle the usual ones.

A fail example from previous version of Internet Explorer( 8 ) can be seen in the following picture. The browser itself got the FAIL tag written(from acidtest), so we didn’t modified anything.

The preview of the Beta version can be downloaded from Microsoft website, but be careful, who knows. The browser works only on Vista or 7 systems so don’t bother to try to install it on XP. If you are angry on Microsoft, you can buy a T-shirt from this address and support the community.

We will try to keep you updated as soon as we find out more about this new browser because now this thing is not ready for surfing.
