Nokia N97 mini

Nokia N97 miniNo, it’s not N97 again..It’s basically called N97 mini and is almost the same, only smaller than his twin brother. We had previewed N97 at the beginning of this summer and we saw that Nokia is capable to build a touch screen mobile with QWERTY keyboard. What we didn’t saw is that Nokia rushed to release N97 model to try to battle the new iPhone 3GS which was released close after that.

Mini version of N97 comes with a 3.2 inches TFT touchscreen which provides a resolution of 360 x 640 pixels and supports 16M colors. It’s smaller and thinner than his brother having 113 x 52.5 and just 14.2 mm thickness. At the top of the display we find the video call camera, earpiece device and the ambient light + proximity sensor while on the bottom  are the touch sensitive call and end call buttons.

The Power button is situated as usual for a Nokia phone, at the top close to the 3.5 mm audio jack port. The right side of the mini version features volume rocker buttons and the camera shutter key while on the left side is the microUSB port and a screen lock slider. +Continue Reading

Palm Pixi is not ready yet to face the reality

palm-pixiFrom the beginning let’s say it sounds strange. Pixi name given for the new Palm is not the brightest one, it is a phone not a robot. Let’s see if it can win our confidence with his technical features.

On the first look the smartphone seem nice and easy to use, it comes with a full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.63-inches TFT capacitive touchscreen(320 x 400 pixels) with 256k colors. The phone is made by plastic, weights almost 100grams and is quite thin having just 0.43-inches thick.

On the top of the device we find the power button and the 3.5mm jack, while on the right side the microUSB port and volume rocker buttons.

The 2 megapixel camera is on the back of the phone, but is nothing impressive(comes with LED flash and supports video recording).

Pixi comes with a Qualcomm MSM7627 processor at 600Mhz and a 256 Mb RAM memory and runs his native Palm WEB Operating System(1.3.1). Internal memory has 8Gb, but microSD card is not supported. A good thing is you can choose up to 300 apps from the App Catalog and every week Palm is updating with new ones.

Connectivity lacks Wi-Fi feature and features just Bluetooth 2.1, EDGE, GPRS, 3G, microUSB port.

We can say Palm Pixi is not a phone that you will want to use it these days, when iPhone, Htc, Nokia or others are available and exceed this model on almost all features. That’s maybe why Pixi can be found in stores at prices near 100$ or even 30$(after some discounts.

BlackBerry Storm 2 preview

blackberry_storm_2BlackBerry has released a new phone called Storm 2 and today we will offer you some details about his specifications.

The smartphone is made with Verizon and is designed(let’s say) for the touchscreen social users.

Phone comes with a nice 3.25-inches display having a resolution of 360×480 and just 65K colors. The display is quite big, phone has 160 grams and is 13.9 mm thicker, but you’ll get used with it as it’s touchscreen based. A major difference spotted here are the 4-buttons which now there are incorporated into the touchscreen display.

The back camera has 3.2 megapixel and has autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging and image stabilization. It also supports IS 2X digital zoom and Video Capture and video recording.

The operating system that runs on Storm 2 is BlackBerry 5.0 OS one and the RAM memory has 256Mb. The internal memory has 2 Gb, but the phone comes also with a 16Gb microSD card attached in the packet. As interesting features available we can mention: copy and paste(same as iPhone), Domestic/International Voice, Messaging & Email Service (Global SIM pre–installed). We don’t know nothing yet about the model or the speed of his processor.

Connectivity offers many options to help you:  GPRS, 3G, Bluetooth 2.1, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, microUSB, 3.5 mm Stereo Headset . The battery is a Lithium Ion Battery (1400 mAh) and offers up to 270 hours in stand by mode.

Phone seem nice and solid, but we can’t give you a final opinion until we take a look of everything it can do. You will find it available in stores since this November with an estimated price of 270$.

Motorola Droid is ready for the Market

motorola_droid

The expected comeback of Motorola will begin next year, when more than 20 mobile phone models could be released. One of the interesting models that we have information is the Droid one, a model that could battle with iPhone, Xperia, N97 or other successful known models.

I don’t even remember last time when Motorola took the market by surprise and release a new model(perhaps was RAZR). The new Droid is something we expected from other companies, but let’s face the reality and give Motorola the credit for what they’ve done.

As the name mention, phone will come with Google Android and with  little help from Verizon, the smartphone market will adopt a new model.

Construction is nice, solid(plastic+metal) and the phone weights 165 grams which is pretty normal since it supports a very comfortable QWERTY keyboard and a big 3.7-inch touchscreen. The display supports a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and under it four capacitive buttons: back, menu, home and search. +Continue Reading

Windows 7 is alive

windows_7The wait is over…Windows 7 had been released on 22 October so we couldn’t pass this event without writing something about it.

Windows Vista was the previous operating system that Microsoft claimed to be a new wave inside our computers. We all know Vista has been just a pain in the arse: lack of drivers, resource killer, security problems and a lot of related issues destroyed our faith in Microsoft’s operating systems(XP).

Introduction

Windows 7 is a simplified version of previous operating system made by Microsoft(Xp + Vista). It comes with several fixes and tweaks to make our experience smoother and close to what we all expected.

Versions

You will find in stores 3 different types of Windows 7, each having more or less features: +Continue Reading
